First they came for the
socialists, And I did not speak out-
Because I was not a socialist.
They came for the trade unions,
And I did not speak out-
Because I was not a trade
unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, And
I did not speak out-
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me, And there
was no one left to speak for me.
A
famous statement by Martin Niemoller.
This is exactly what is happening
around the globe. The groups or victims may vary, but its all same when it
comes to the sufferings. All the conflicts for land, religion, race and caste
had taken many lives throughout the history of mankind. Let's go through a few
incidents happened or happening around the globe.
The Israeli Palestine Conflict
The
Israeli Palestinian conflict has its roots from the early 19th
Century with the birth of nationalist movements among the Jews and among the
Arabs. Both sides had lost many lives since then. The Jews were at the
receiving end during the early phases and the Palestinians at the latter point.
The conflict hasn’t come to an end, even though the majority of the civilians on
both sides opted for two separate states in the region. The conflict over the
land had taken many innocent lives till date.
The Sreelankan Civil war
The origins
of the Sreelankan civil war can be dated back to the early 19th
Century. The conflicts between the majority Sinhalese and the minority Tamilians
was the root cause of the Civil war. The dispute over the race had resulted in
the distresses of many innocent humans.
Christians forced to flee from northern Iraq
One of
the most recent incident is Christians fleeing from the northern city of
Mousoul under threat of forced conversion or execution. Those who were moving
from the city was robbed at ISIS check points. This is another incident where
people who lived in a region had lost everything because of religion.
So
is it just Gaza suffers around the world or is it just the Tamilians in SreeLanka
or the Christians in Iraq. There are much more around the globe. In all these
incidents, the innocent lives were suffering the most. The conflict over caste,
land, race and religion had taken many lives. Now it's time to think beyond all
these. We have to unite together and stand up for humanity. Let's stop
narrowing our voices for a particular region, religion or race. We
can make a difference if we stand together for humanity.
No one is born hating another person
Because of the color of his skin,
Or his background or his religion.
People must learn to hate,
And if they can learn to hate,
They can be taught to love.
For love comes more naturally
To the human heart than its opposite.
Nelson Mandela.

ReplyDeleteYou can talk vth someone for years, everyday, and still it won't mean as much as what you can have when you sit in front of someone, not saying a word, yet you feel that person vth your heart, you feel like you have known that person forever......connections are made vth the heart, not the tongue! !!!!!!!
